Interesting reflections which makes Jonathan M Hollin in the post What Makes A Great Weblog?, which we summarize them here. The author of Urban Mainframe starts wondering why some weblogs attract large numbers of readers, while others operate near invisibility. Its starting point is to confess to his readers what qualities he admires in a blog, those characteristics that make a weblog be read again for a long time, after a first time.
Reading this post today, I discovered that I share almost 100% of Mr. Hollin criteria.
Basically, the qualities of a good weblog do not have to do with standards compliance, accessibility, lack of tables in the code, design, frequency of posting or features. All that is important and appreciated, but not what makes us hooked on a blog.
BUT GOOD IT'S WEBLOG CONTENT.
• Choose well what we speak determine our audience, Hollin said.
• Also good grammar and write clearly. • Another positive
is the organization of information, which should be logical and consistent.
• Must be easy to navigate and the reader is no barriers in front of the information.
• Continuing with more questions related to a good weblog, we find the performance.
• What is called the weight of the pages should be minimized.
• Credibility. We have to write what we know, but do not confuse opinion.
• The payload of our blog will be highly valued by our readers.
• With respect to our personality, Hollin recommended to inject a small portion of it, and a little humor our posts.
And finally, one of the greatest qualities of a weblog is the community, so do not deactivate our commenting system.
What we can eliminate a few things like talking cats (if I want a cat and get one, thank you very much), depression (if a blog gets me down and not return to it) or harassment.
The arguments and reasonable criticism is fine, but there is a difference between honest criticism and deliberate harassment.
